In preparation for the school year, I am releasing this informative episode on biliteracy. Listen to this episode in order to find out more about biliteracy, crosslinguistic pedagogies, supporting the child’s home language and much more with Dr. Caroline Erdos and Laura MacGrath. Qu’est-ce qui est typique chez un apprenant d’une langue seconde lorsqu’on parle de la lecture ? Quand les enseignants devraient-ils s’inquiéter ?

Caroline Erdos, speech-language pathologist, is the professional coordinator of Speech-Language Pathology and a consultant at Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board, in addition to working as the school SLP advisor for SAC. Previously, she was the Advancing Learning in Differentiation & Inclusion coordinator for the 10 English school boards in Quebec, where she supported resource teachers through various professional development initiatives. With over 20 years’ experience as a pediatric SLP in a tertiary care centre, her areas of expertise include bi/multilingualism, reading and language disorder, FASD, and craniofacial differences. Caroline has lectured at several Canadian universities. She has also been invited to present at numerous conferences across North America and has written and collaborated on several publications.

Laura MacGrath is a speech-language pathologist, working in anglophone bilingual schools and in private practice in Quebec, since 2009.  She works mostly with school-aged children, and specializes in helping children with literacy difficulties.  Recently, Laura was a course lecturer at the McGill University School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, on the topic of dyslexia.  You can see her website and blog at doyoureadme.ca
